Tumkur: Hemavathi Express Link has been heavily opposed in the Tumkur district. The protests have intensified in Gubbi Taluk, with thousands of people fighting in the midst of sections of 144, including the peasant organization and BJP-JDS leaders.
The district has issued a section of 144 in the 10 km area near the Sunkapur Nale. The government is shouting slogans against the government within and outside Section 144. Hundreds of farmers and BJP leaders gathered near the Anjaneyaswamy temple in Nittur. A tight police bandobust has been carried out in the area for protesting between 144 sections.
BJP MLA Suresh Gowda, Jyoti Ganesh, District President Ravi Shankar and Farmers’ Union District President Govindaraju are fighting. The government has expressed outrage that the Tumkur farmers’ irrigation struggle is being crushed. The fighters have disrupted traffic on the highway, creating a tense atmosphere in the area.
What is the cause of the irrigation struggle? Politicians and farmers in Tumkur district are strongly opposed to the project. The state government has allocated water to the Tumkur district to drain 24 TMC of water from the Goruru Dam per year. Now, the pipeline is being carried out to drain 0.75 TMC of water for the Magadi Taluk.
In addition, water could be taken by Kunigal through the canal. Instead, if you put steel pipes and drain Hemavathi water, Kunigal taluk will not get water. Tumkur district politicians are worried that the remaining taluks of Tumkur district will be reduced. Though 24 TMC Hemavathi has been allocated a year to Tumkur district, 24 TMC Hemavathi water has not been flooded with Tumkur district. Hemavathi water is used for the purpose of drinking for the purpose of drinking for the purpose of drinking in Tumkur district.
Hemavathi water is used for drinking purposes for Tumkur city and towns. Goruru Dam water is drained to Bugudanahalli Lake near Tumkur city and from there to Tumkur city by pipe. Similarly, Madhugiri and Shira towns are being supplied with water to the lakes. Gubbi, Thiruvekere, Tipatur, Chikkanayanahalli and Kunigal taluks also rely on Hemavathi water for drinking water and agricultural purposes. The Tumkur district has no other source of water, leaving the Hemavathi River water source.
Hemavathi is a life river for Tumkur district. Thus, the people of Tumkur district and politicians have died and said that Hemavathi did not give water. According to politicians in Magadi Taluk, Hemavathi’s 0.75 TMC of water has been allocated for the Sriranga irrigation project in Magadi Taluk. The allocated water is planned to be drained by steel pipe lane to the adjoining Magadi Taluk through Gubbi Taluk, Kunigal Taluk.
