Rain and floods caused havoc in northeastern states, 25 people killed so far

The continuous rains in the northeastern states and the floods in the rivers have caused havoc. In Assam, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, 30 people have died and many people are said to be injured due to rain, floods and landslides. In view of the flood situation, alert has been issued in many areas. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to heavy rains in these states. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding this. In this way, the floods after the sudden rains have disturbed life in the entire North-East.

Eight people died in Assam so far

According to news agency PTI, eight people have died so far due to floods and landslides in Assam due to continuous heavy rains. 17 districts have been submerged due to heavy rains and more than 78,000 people have been affected.




Four people died in Mizoram

There has been a landslide due to heavy rains in Mizoram, killing four people – three of whom were refugees from Myanmar – and another was injured. According to the PTI report, the total number of rain -related deaths in the state has now increased to five.

Six people died in three days in Meghalaya

Two girls died due to lightning and another person drowned due to heavy rains in Meghalaya. According to PTI, there have been six deaths in the last three days. About 1,100 people from 49 villages have been affected by landslides, sudden floods and power supply disrupted.

Nine people died in Arunachal Pradesh

Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed grief over the nine deaths caused by landslides – seven in Eastern Kamang and two in Zero Valley and announced an ex -gratia amount of ₹ 4 lakh for each victim’s family. IMD has estimated heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning from June 1 to 5, and heavy rains are likely to continue on 5 and 6 June.

People upset in Imphal too

Due to continuous rains, flood-like conditions were created in many areas of Imphal on Saturday, which caused heavy waterlogging and everyday life got disturbed. The streets were flooded to the knees and traffic was severely affected. Water entered houses and shops in low -lying areas, while insufficient drainage system failed to handle heavy rains, causing emergency measures to protect their goods.

Tourists trapped in Sikkim

At the same time, about 1,500 tourists were trapped in various parts of North Sikkim on Saturday due to continuous rains and landslides in Sikkim. Officials said that on the other hand, due to heavy rains, the search for eight missing tourists was obstructed and the search operation was eventually postponed after the water level in the Teesta River rises. One person was killed and two others were missing when a vehicle collapsed on Thursday night in the Teesta River in Mangan district, while eight others are missing.
