The world’s tallest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, Jammu and Kashmir stands gracefully.” According to Dr. Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate this huge Chenab Bridge on 6 June 2025. Eiffel tower even higher
This world’s highest railway bridge, Chenab Bridge, built on Chenab River in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir is a wonderful example of Indian engineering skills and technology. Located at an altitude of 359 meters, this arch (arches) bridge based on technology is about 35 meters high than Eiffel Tower and is also unmatched for its beauty.
Travel over a decade
The construction of this bridge at a cost of Rs 1486 crore was approved by the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 2003. However, its construction took a long time of 22 years, but now the Kashmir Valley will be directly connected to the rest of the country by rail.
No pillar is given
The biggest feature of this 1315 meter long bridge is that neither the river has been tampered with in its construction nor any pillar has been erected in it. Arch technology has been used on both sides of the river. This bridge, prepared from steel and concrete, has used 29 thousand metric tons of steel. It has 17 spans prepared and more than six lakh bolts have been installed.
How much will Bridge’s life be?
The estimated life span of Chenab Railway Bridge is about 125 years. It is also designed to face a strong storm, earthquake and 30 kg explosives. Trains will be able to run at a speed of 100 km/h on this bridge.
