New Delhi: A new controversy has arisen with the recent remarks of Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha on the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections. His allegations have been completely rejected by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Explain that Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the Maharashtra election was part of the “plan to rigged in democracy” and this “match fixing” will also be done in Bihar and other states, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is losing. However, ECI has dismissed these allegations as “baseless” and “insult to the rule of law”.

Election Commission replied

Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s statement, the Election Commission described his claims as “absurd” and “misleading”. In a statement, the Election Commission said that a detailed reply to the Congress party’s concerns is publicly available on the Election Commission website since December 2024. The Election Commission emphasized that allegations without evidence not only insult the law, but also make the morale of election workers who work tirelessly to ensure fair elections. The Election Commission said, “Any wrong information spread by someone is not only a sign of disrespect towards the law, but also slander thousands of delegates appointed by their political parties and also demolish the morale of millions of election staff.”
