Test cricket: Indian batsman who played the biggest innings against England cricket team

In fourth place is another former veteran batsman Gundappa Vishwanath. He scored 222 runs against England during the Chennai Test in 1982.

Vishwanath, who came out to bat on number-4, had 31 fours in 374 balls. In response, the England team was successful in scoring 328 runs.
