Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma has made a big charge on the Congress. He said that more than 5,000 ‘social media accounts’ have become active to promote and support the Assam unit of Congress. He alleged in a press conference that this ‘account’, which is campaigning for the Congress, is active in 47 countries and the highest number of active ‘accounts’ are in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Mention of a special leader without naming
CM Sharma claimed that these ‘accounts’ have been specially focusing on the activities of a special leader of the Assam unit of Congress and the state unit of the party for the last one month. Sharma said, “It is surprising that he does not comment or ‘Like’ on Rahul Gandhi or even the post of Indian National Congress. He focuses only on a special leader and the Assam unit of the Congress. ”
Apart from Assam, he posts Islamic radical materials which include Palestine, Iran and Bangladesh Chief Advisor Professor Mohammad Yunus related posts. Although the Chief Minister did not name any leader, but it seems that he was referring to Gaurav Gogoi who was appointed as the chairman of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee in May last week.
Foreign intervention increased before assembly elections
Sharma said, “He has nothing to do with the change in party leadership, but this development has happened last month.” He said, “There is a lot of foreign intervention in Assam politics before the 2026 assembly elections and this is happening for the first time.” The Chief Minister described it as the issue of “national security”, saying that the central government has been informed about it.
