Good news for passengers, confirmed tickets, railway fixed the limit of waiting list

Indian Railways has taken an important decision to control passengers and control the crowd in trains. The Railway Ministry has announced that now the number of waiting tickets in any train will be limited to 25% of the total capacity of the train. The purpose of this new rule is to provide better travel experience to passengers and reduce the problem of overbooking.

According to reports, now the railway will release the AC First Class, AC Second, AC Third, Sleeper and Chair Car of every train as a waiting ticket in the total berth/seats in the car. This change has been made keeping in mind various quota such as seats reserved for disabled, senior citizens and women.

Trains will be less crowded

According to railway officials, data shows that about 20 to 25 percent of waiting tickets are confirmed till the chart is ready. On this basis, a new limit has been set, so that passengers can get more clarity about their ticket status. After the circular issued by the Railway Board, various zonal railway across the country has started implementing this new system.

This rule will be applicable to all categories of trains such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Mail/Express and Superfast trains. For example, if 1,000 seats are available in a train, a maximum of 250 weightlist tickets will be issued. This will not only increase the chances of the passengers getting ticket confirmed, but will also reduce unnecessary crowd in the train.

What was the waiting limit till now?

According to a circular in January 2013, the first AC First Class could be issued maximum 30, 100 in AC second, 300 in AC third and 400 in sleeper class. Due to this, the passengers often worried about the confirmation of their tickets till the last time. According to a senior railway official, due to the large number of waiting tickets, passengers with confirmed tickets climbed into reserved coaches, causing crowds and chaos in coaches. The new policy will help in curbing this chaos.
