New Delhi: India has once again told Pakistan clearly its position. Pakistan started a new drama over Indus Water Treaty, but India rejected it outright. Pakistan had complained to the so-called Court of Arbitration in Jammu and Kashmir about Hydroelectric Projects. India has completely rejected the recent decision of this court as illegal and illegal. India has said that this court has no legal existence.

What did Pakistan claim about water?

In 1960, the Indus Water Agreement was signed between India and Pakistan under the supervision of the World Bank. Under this, the water of the western rivers (Jhelum, Chenab, and Indus) of the Indus River Basin was distributed between the two countries. But Pakistan has been questioning India’s Kishanganga (330 MW) and Ratle (850 MW) projects for a long time. He claims that these projects violate the agreement and affect the water received to Pakistan. India says that these projects are based on ‘run-of-the-supervision’ technology, which are completely valid according to the rules of the agreement.

Pakistan’s new drama, India’s befitting reply

Pakistan had sought the so -called ‘Supplyl Award’ (supplementary verdict) on these projects from the Court of Arbitration, but India declared this court illegal. The Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday, ‘This court has been illegally built and has no legal basis for any decision. Its decisions are zero and invalid from the beginning. India has also written a letter to the neutral expert Mitchell Lino appointed by the World Bank demanding to stop the current dispute resolution process. This includes steps such as submitting written documents and joint meetings, which were scheduled for this year.

Agreement suspended after terrorist attack

India suspended the Indus Water Agreement after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April 2022, in which 26 people were suspended. India says that until Pakistan completely closes the border terrorism, India is not obliged to fulfill any responsibility under this agreement. The Ministry of External Affairs said, “Pakistan is engaged in promoting terrorism and is now creating false drama on international forums.” Water Power Minister CR Patil said, ‘All these efforts of Pakistan are just pretending. India is adamant on its stance.

What is India’s message?

India has made it clear that it has the right to use its share of western rivers. Especially when this agreement is no longer practical due to terrorism. India not only thwarted Pakistan’s move, but also showed that it would not compromise with its sovereignty and security. Pakistan should understand that India will not tolerate any more. Experts believe that India can now take steps towards using its water resources more and more, which will make Pakistan more chilly.
