New Delhi: The Indian Army on Wednesday successfully tested the indigenously developed Akash Prime Air Defense System at an altitude of more than 15,000 feet in Ladakh sector. The test was conducted in collaboration with senior officials of the Indian Army and Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). DRDO has developed this system. During testing, surface -to -air missiles hit two directly on aircraft moving in extremely high altitude areas. This test was successful.
What is Akash Prime Air Defense System?
Akash Prime is basically an advanced version of the sky system, especially a better Sikar system for better accuracy in the challenging weather and the terrain. Akash proved his effectiveness in the battlefield during Operation Sindoor, where it was deployed to combat air threats from Pakistan. The system successfully killed Chinese aircraft and Turkish -made drones used by the Pakistani Army.
The sky air defense system is a medium-range, surface-to-air missile designed to protect dynamic, semi-dilemma and stable military installations from various aerial threats. This advanced real-time multi-sensor is equipped with the abilities to process data processing, evaluation of danger and kill targets. Akash Prime is equipped with an indigenous active radio frequency (RF) Sikar for better accuracy as compared to the current sky system.
Can be deployed at an altitude up to 4,500 meters
Other improvements also ensure more reliable performance in a low -temperature environment at high altitude. A modified ground system of the existing sky weapon system has also been used. The Akash Prime system has further enhanced the confidence of the Indian Army. This missile can be deployed at an altitude of up to 4,500 meters and can kill the goals located at a distance of about 25–30 kilometers.
Where will Akash Prime Defense System be posted?
After this Test, Akash Prime can now be included in the Indian Army. Officials have indicated that the third and fourth regiments of the sky air defense system are likely to be equipped with the Akash Prime version. This system has played an important role in neutralizing drone hazards and increasing the overall power of India’s air defense grid.
