The defense system of the Indian Army has now got new strength. India has successfully tested the Akash Prime Defense System. This defense system has been developed by DRDO. Its test was successful on Wednesday. Earlier, the army was informed about the successful test. After this, the video of the test has also surfaced. It can be seen in the video that the goal of Akash Defense System is flying rapidly in the air. The missile is then launched and destroys the target within a few seconds.
The Akash Prime Defense System is an advanced surface-to-Hawk missile system developed by India. It is designed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It is the modern version of the original sky missile system, including better accuracy, long range, and the ability to work at high altitude. The system is an important part of the Indian Army and Air Force’s air defense strategy, capable of destroying enemy air threats such as fighter aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and other aerial goals.
Specialty of Akash Prime
- Akash Prime is an indigenous radio frequency Sikar, which enables it to track and destroy rapidly moving goals with high accuracy.
- This system can penetrate goals up to 25–45 km distance and height of 18-20 km. It is also effective in high altitude areas like Ladakh.
- This system works on supersonic speed (2.5 MAC) and can attack 12 goals by tracking 64 goals simultaneously. Each missile contains 60 kg of explosive, which is effective in destroying air threats.
- Akash Prime is completely portable and can be deployed on wheel or track vehicles, which gives it flexibility in the battlefield.
- This includes 3D Rajendra radar, advanced real-time multi-sensor data processing, and digital coded guidance system, which makes it suitable for modern war.
- On 16 July 2025, Akash Prime was successfully tested in Ladakh at an altitude of 15,000 feet, where it accurately destroyed two sharp -speed air goals in the atmosphere with excessive cold and low oxygen.
Example of self -sufficient India
The Akash Prime system is a symbol of India’s indigenous defense technology, which reduces dependence on foreign imports. Its growth cost is 8–10 times lower than other countries. The system played an important role in thwarting Pakistan’s drone and Chinese/Turkish technology during Operation Sindoor (2025), which proved its credibility. Akash Prime will be included in the third and fourth Akash Regiment of the Indian Army, which will further strengthen the air defense grid.
The sky is different from S-400
Range: The range of S-400 is up to 400 kilometers, while the range of Akash Prime is 25-45 km. The S-400 is designed for long distance hazards, while Akash Prime is suitable for medium distance. The S-400 can track 300 goals simultaneously, while Akash Prime Tracks 64 goals. Akash Prime is completely indigenous, while the S-400 is imported from Russia, which is easy to cost and easier in maintenance. Akash Prime is particularly optimized for high height and cold environment such as Ladakh.
Brazil can buy weapons from India
Akash Prime is used by both the Indian Army and the Air Force. This system is important to deal with air threats on the borders of border areas, especially Pakistan and China. Its success has also attracted the attention of countries like Brazil, showing interest in buying it.
