New Delhi: The CBI has arrested 3 accused in fake postage scam worth 2.5 crore. The CBI has arrested the brother of the dead sub postmaster of Bulandshahr and two private people in a fake postage scam case of Rs 2.5 crore.

What is the matter?

The CBI had filed a case against three people, including Sub Postmaster Lakhuti Bulandshahr, in December 2024, on the complaint of the Bulandshahr Postal Department. It was alleged that all the post master, who is not currently in this world, scams fake postage with some people.

From May 2023 to November 2024, the accused installed fake postage stemps on goods worth Rs 2.78 crore, while the real postage stump was only Rs 28 lakh for the Stampus Lakhauti Post Office. In this way, the accused caused a loss of Rs 2.50 crore to the postal department and benefited themselves.

After gathering all the evidence, the CBI arrested two accused on 24 June 2025 and a third accused was arrested on 26 June 2025.

Who are the accused?

  1. Rahul Kumar, (now late) the then Deputy Dakpal (SPM), Lakhoti, Sub-Dakghar, Bulandshahr (Nominated in FIR)
  2. Pappu Singh (arrested brother of deceased public servant Rahul Kumar)
  3. Rajesh Kumar, (arrested private person)
  4. Mahendra Kumar (Arrested Private Person- Rajesh Kumar’s father)
