BJP made Kanad Purastha a party candidate for Rajya Sabha elections

New Delhi: The BJP declared Kanad Purkayastha as the party’s candidate from Assam for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. While releasing the list, it has been told that the party high command has given its approved in the name of Kanad Purakayastha.

State BJP had shortlist 13 names

Earlier, BJP’s Assam unit finalized the list of 13 senior leaders and sent it to the high command. One of these 13 leaders was to be approved in the name. The shortlisted names also included the name of the current state secretary Kanad Purkayastha.

Election will be held in two seats in Assam

Explain that elections are to be held in two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam. One of these seats will contest BJP and the other seat BJP’s ally, Assam Gana Parishad (AGP). According to the number, the candidates of BJP and AGP are almost certain to win the election. There is a government of BJP and AGP coalition in the state.

Elections will be held in Assam on June 19

Elections for two Rajya Sabha seats in Assam will be held on June 19, the results of which will be announced on the same day. Election notification has been released on June 2 and nominations can be filed by 9 June. These elections have been due to the end of the tenure of Ranjan Das (BJP) and Birendra Prasad Baishya (AGP). Assam currently has seven seats in the Upper House, out of which six are occupied by NDA (BJP 4, UPPL 1, AGP 1), while an independent has one seat.

Supervisors will be posted

In order to ensure the integrity of voting, the Election Commission has made mandatory the use of the predetermined purple sketch pen provided by the Returning Officer to mark ballot preferences. Alternative writing tools are strictly forbidden. ECI supervisors will be deployed to oversee the election process, where compulsory compliance of the Kovid-19 guidelines will be made.
