Calcutta High Court gave interim bail to Sharmishtha Panoli, but put many conditions

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday granted an interim bail to Law student and social media influencer Sharmishtha Panoli. Let us know that Sharmistha was recently arrested from Gurugram on charges of posting an objectionable video during Operation Sindoor by the Calcutta police. In the earlier hearing, the court refused to grant bail to Sharmishtha Panoli. However, the court on Thursday granted interim bail to Panoli.

Court imposed these conditions

The Calcutta High Court has granted interim bail to Sharmishtha Panoli but has also imposed some conditions on him. The High Court has said that Sharmistha Panoli cannot leave the country. If they have to do so, then the permission of CJM will be necessary for this. Along with this, the court has also instructed Sharmishtha to deposit Rs 10,000. Sharmistha’s lawyer DP Singh has said that Sharmistha will have to submit his passport. She will join the investigation of the case and sign the bell bond.

Why was Sharmishtha arrested?

22 -year -old law student Sharmishtha Panoli was arrested by the Calcutta police from Gurugram on the night of 30 May. After this, on 31 May, the court sent Panoli to judicial custody for 14 days for 14 days. Sharmistha Panoli was accused of insulting Islam in a video. However, after criticism, Panoli removed the video and also apologized.

No blasphemy crime in India- lawyer

Advocate DP Singh, appearing on behalf of Sharmishtha Panoli, said during a hearing in the court that no cognizable offense is made in the complaint against Sharmistha. Ishaninda is not a crime in India. The lawyer has informed the court that Sharmistha was responding to the Pakistani girl in her video. Sharmishtha removed the disputed video and immediately apologized. The court heard the arguments of both the parties and found that there is no need to interrogate Sharishtha anymore. Therefore interim bail can be granted. The court has also directed the police that if Sharmishtha Panoli is in danger of her social media post, then she should be given security.
