Union Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said without naming Pakistan on Friday that India wanted to mention terrorism in the manifesto of the meeting of the Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) but it was not acceptable to a member country. Jaishankar said that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s perspective on the matter was correct as the main objective of the SCO is to fight terrorism and without this reference (India’s concern), Singh refused to accept the resulting document. Singh on Thursday refused to sign the SCO’s joint statement for not mentioning the Pahalgam terrorist attack and not clearly paying attention to India’s concerns over Pakistan -backed border terrorism.

What did Foreign Minister S Jaishankar say

Top sources said that Singh demanded the inclusion of the terrorist attack in the statement of the Ministers of Defense, while the Pakistani side emphasized a paragraph on terrorist activities in Balochistan, which was a clear effort to hold New Delhi responsible. When asked about Singh’s stance, Jaishankar told reporters that the objective of the SCO, who runs consensus, is to fight terrorism. He said, “In the discussion on the manifesto of the meeting of Defense Ministers, a country said that no, we do not want reference to it. You can guess which country would have been.” Jaishankar said that the SCO runs unanimously but when a country said that it would not accept any mention of terrorism, Singh said that the manifesto is not acceptable to India.

Rajnath Singh did not sign joint statement

Please tell that Defense Minister Rajnath Singh refused to sign a joint statement at the SCO meeting in China on Thursday. Rajnath Singh raised the issue of terrorism across the border indirectly on Pakistan. During this period, the Defense Minister insisted on India’s anti -terrorism stance, appealing to the member countries to bring the culprits of such acts under the purview of justice. Reports said that the signing of a joint statement in the SCO meeting will weaken India’s attitude against terrorism as it did not even mention the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed on 22 April.
