Tension between Shivkumar and Siddaramaiah

This response of CM Siddaramaiah has come under the backdrop of the ongoing tussle over the post of Chief Minister within the Karnataka government and the backdrop of the opposition BJP’s claim that Shivkumar can replace Siddaramaiah. However, the Congress high command has indicated that it has no plan to change the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah has rejected the speculation of his resignation, and Shivkumar has publicly stated that he will support him, but the tension between the two has often been revealed in public programs.

The tension between the two leaders started in 2023 since the assembly election results came out, in which the Congress won a stunning victory. At that time, DK Shivkumar was considered a strong contender for the top position due to his role in the Congress victory.
