The tussle over the post of Chief Minister in the Karnataka government is increasing. On the stage of a program held on Saturday in Mysore district, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was angry with the suggestion of Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar in his address. DK Shivkumar was also present on the stage but when Chief Minister Siddaramaiah came on stage, he did not mention Shivkumar while introducing dignitaries. When asked, he suddenly got angry and said, “DK Shivkumar is not here, is there? Please sit down. What kind of lawyer are you?” People were shocked to see his attitude as to what happened to him.

CM furious as soon as he hears DK Shivkumar’s name

The Chief Minister expressed displeasure, saying, “DK Shivkumar has gone back to Bangalore. You have to take the names of the people on the stage, not their names. The same protocol is that those who are here should be called, not the people sitting at home, you should understand this.” A video of his answer is also going viral on social media.

Tension between Shivkumar and Siddaramaiah

This response of CM Siddaramaiah has come under the backdrop of the ongoing tussle over the post of Chief Minister within the Karnataka government and the backdrop of the opposition BJP’s claim that Shivkumar can replace Siddaramaiah. However, the Congress high command has indicated that it has no plan to change the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Siddaramaiah has rejected the speculation of his resignation, and Shivkumar has publicly stated that he will support him, but the tension between the two has often been revealed in public programs.

Stress going on since election results

The tension between the two leaders started in 2023 since the assembly election results came out, in which the Congress won a stunning victory. At that time, DK Shivkumar was considered a strong contender for the top position due to his role in the Congress victory. Eventually, the Congress leadership managed to agree to the posts of Deputy Chief Minister and State Party chief. Some reports then claimed that in turn, the post of Chief Minister has been agreed, but it was never confirmed.
