Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said on Friday that more important than what the Congress has given to its leaders and members is that the party has given them the strength of expression. Shivkumar said this while expressing consideration on the history of the party at an event organized to welcome new leaders in the Congress. Recalling the sacrifice of the Gandhi-Nehru family for the country, Shivkumar said, “The strength of the Congress is the strength of the country. This is all history. Is it possible to eradicate the history of India? ”
State Congress President Shivkumar said, “What the Congress has given me is not important and do not ask such a question that the party did not make me a member, president, minister, Chief Minister, Union Minister or Governor.” The important thing is that it has given us the power of expression. ”He claimed that no other party can give the voice and position that the Congress has given to its members.
No vacancy for CM post- Siddaramaiah
Shivkumar’s statement came at a time when Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed speculation related to the change of leadership in the state government on Thursday, saying that there is “no vacancies” for the post of Chief Minister and he remains in office. Siddaramaiah claimed that he would complete his five -year term as Chief Minister and he later, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar rejected speculation related to paving the way for taking charge as the Chief Minister.
‘Nehru family sacrificed their full assets for Congress’
Referring that the Congress gave the country its constitution, Shivkumar said that the whole world appreciates the Indian Constitution and its democracy. The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka said, “Some people are misusing it (of democracy), but all this is a temporary phase. The Congress struggled for 60 to 70 years and served the people and brought freedom to the country. Gandhiji, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of this country. The Nehru family sacrificed their entire property for the Congress party. ‘
‘A Christian woman adopted our constitution and country’
Shivkumar also wanted to know whether it was not possible for Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister of the country while in power of UPA. He said, “Sonia Gandhi was invited by the then President to form the government but said that she does not want power. A Christian woman adopted our constitution and country and settled in India, made a Sikh economist Prime Minister for 10 years. Except Congress, no other country and political party have such a history. ”
‘BJP only talks about Hindus, not anyone else’
Taking a sarcasm at the opposition BJP’s pro -Hindu stance in Karnataka, Shivkumar said that all the people including him in the room are Hindus. Shivkumar said, “We also worship Shiva, Ganesh and Rama, but take others along and say that we are all one. The BJP only talks about Hindus, not anyone else, while our party lies in humanity. ”(With language inputs)
