Ghaziabad: IndiGo on Sunday launched its commercial flights from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. These Indigo flights will connect Hindon Air Terminal to nine cities including Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu flagged off these flights. After Air India Express, IndiGo has now become the second airline to serve at Hindon Airport.

Flight of aspirations of common Indians

During this ceremony, Naidu appreciated the success of the central government flight (the common citizen of the flying country) scheme. Naidu said, “This is Hindon, Ghaziabad, western Uttar Pradesh and the entire country (flight) success. It is a flight of the ambitions and aspirations of common Indians.” The Civil Aviation Minister said, “During 2024-2034, civil aviation will develop in Tier II and III cities and we have to exploit this capacity. Hindon will become an example.”

Flights to these cities

With IndiGo introduced its commercial flight services at Hindon Airport, the terminal will now join nine cities – Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Goa, Varanasi, Patna, Indore and Ahmedabad.

IndiGo will provide daily airlines for most places except Chennai. Flights of IndiGs will operate six days a week to Chennai. At the same time, two flights will be operated daily from Bengaluru. Return flights to Hindon from all these places are also scheduled daily.

Indigo flights

IndiGo CEO Peter Albers said that with about 70 weekly flights from the airport, the airline aims to increase point-to-point travel for the customers of the region, allowing them to get an option to fly from an airport near their homes. From March 1 this year, Air India Express started a direct flight service from Kolkata to Hindon Airport. The airline had said that it would operate 40 weekly flights from Hindon, which would directly connect Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Jammu and Kolkata.
