Son lived abroad

Police said the deceased have been identified as Srilekha AK (67) and her husband Premarajan PK (76), who lived alone. His sons are working abroad. According to the police, the incident came to light at around 6 pm on Thursday when the couple’s car driver reached their house. The driver had to pick up the son, who was returning from abroad. During this time, the house was closed from inside and no one responded despite repeated knocking.

Head injury targeted

A police officer said the door was broken and the bodies were recovered with the help of relatives and neighbors. Police said that during the investigation, they saw bruises on Srilekha’s head and recovered a hammer with blood stains from the house. Police suspect that they must have been murdered before burning the bodies. Neighbors told the police that the couple was last seen on Wednesday. However, the police said that no evidence of forcibly entering the house has been found. At present, the Balliyapattam police have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
