It says that both cases have been identified by the routine surveillance of multiple respiratory viral pathogens. HMPV is already globally circulating, including India. In addition, the ICMR and Integrated Disease Survey Service Program (IDSP) are based on the current data of the network, the ICMR said there was no unusual surge in influenza -like disease (ILI) or severe respiratory disease.
While the Ministry of Health is monitoring the situation through all available surveillance channels, it noted that the ICMR continues to detect the trend in HMPV throughout the year.
The Center had earlier announced that HMPV and other respiratory viruses were monitoring after the exacerbation of cases in China.
