Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has launched the ‘UMED’ portal regarding Waqf. According to the new Waqf law, all the Waqf properties will have to be recorded in it in 6 months. This portal has been built under Unified Waqf Managment, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act 1995.
Verification will be done through mobile and email id
In this portal, it will be verified through mobile and email ID. Three layers have been made for registration. It has a maker, checker and approval. The maker will be Mutavalli of Waqf Property, which will be decided by the Waqf Board of the States or Union Territory (UT).
CEO or board officials will approve
It will have checker district level officers. It will authorize the Waqf Board. The verification of the property will approve the officers authorized by CEO or Board.
Work is to benefit thousands of lives- Rijiju
During the launch of the UMED portal, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, ‘I want to congratulate all the Muslims associated with the Waqf on launching the UMED portal. This is not a minor step, but it is the job of benefiting thousands of lives.
Registration of properties will be done in the next 6 months
Rijiju further said, ‘We have discussed the most. There is a lot of discussion in both houses. Only then this act has been made. We said that we will not delay it will take it forward. We are doing the same. The properties will be registered in the next 6 months. Everyone will get the benefit of this.
Women and Muslim Muslims will benefit
Along with this, the Union Minister said, ‘Women and Yatim Muslims (orphan Muslim children) will benefit from it. 9 lakh properties are across the country. Now you have to see how much registration will be done? I will also tell the state governments and the State Waqf Board, they should complete their work on time. Rijiju also said, ‘Our country has the most wow properties in the world.’
