Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered to shoot the miscreants to prevent communal tension in Dhubri district adjacent to Bangladesh. After doing the violence affected areas, the Chief Minister said that the incident of throwing beef in the temple should never have happened. People involved will not be spared. He said that orders to shoot shoots will be applicable in Dhubri district bordering Bangladesh at night.

The Chief Minister visited Dhubri on Friday to review the situation. He said that the person involved in the stone pelting will be arrested. The Chief Minister said that RAF and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel will be deployed in the district and all criminals will be arrested in Dhubri. He said that people who have taken laws in their hands will be strictly dealt with.

Why disturbance spread in the area

CM said that the law and order situation in Dhubri has been challenging for the last one week. He said that the next day of Bakrid, a cow’s head was found in front of Hanuman temple at Dhubri district headquarters, after which people of both Hindu and Muslim community appealed for peace and harmony. Sharma said that however, the next day again the cow’s head was placed in front of the temple and stone pelting was done at night. He said that a day before Bakrid, an organization called ‘Nabin Bangla’ pasted ‘inflammatory posters’, in which the intention was to include Dhubri in Bangladesh.

Police strictly dealt with criminals: CM

The Chief Minister said that a communal group has become active to create unrest in Dhubri and after finding out about it, I have come to Dhubri and the order to shoot in the district will be implemented on the night. Sharma said that earlier a section of people eaten ‘Beef’ on Bakrid, but this time thousands of cattle have been brought from West Bengal and a “new beef mafia” in Dhubri, which has bought thousands of animals just before the festival.
