PM Narendra Modi talks to the Prime Minister of Mauritius on the phone, invited to come to India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spoke to the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Naveen Chandra Ramgulam. During this time, PM Modi, while emphasizing the special and unique relations of India-Mauritius, confirmed a shared commitment to deepen the increased strategic partnership. The two leaders discussed bilateral development partnership and measures to deepen cooperation in other fields. The Prime Minister praised Prime Minister Ramgulam’s full participation in the 11th International Yoga Day. He also reiterated India’s commitment to Mauritius’s development priorities to suit the Vision Ocean and Neighbor’s First Policy.

During this period, PM Narendra Modi discussed the ongoing cooperation in many areas including development partnership, capacity building, defense, maritime security, digital infrastructure and people with people. PM Modi invited Mauritius Prime Minister Ramgulam to come to India soon. The two leaders also agreed to remain in touch. Please tell that earlier the Prime Minister of Mauritius came to India in March 2025. In fact, he came to become the chief guest of Mauritius’ National Day (March 12) at the invitation of PM Narendra Modi. During this period, there were many important agreements between the two countries regarding economic, defense, and cultural cooperation.

What agreements were made?

In March 2025, during the Prime Minister of Mauritius, several important agreements were signed between the two countries during his visit to India. These include promoting trade in local currency (INR/MUR), providing credit facility to Mauritius from India, cooperation in MSME sector, partnership between Foreign Services Institutions, cooperation in good governance and administrative improvement, white shipping information for maritime security, sharing white shipping information, maritime science and data sharing, as well as new Parliament House in Mauritius, as well as a new Parliament House in Mauritius. The Prime Minister of Mauritius strengthened bilateral relations between the two countries.
