Police Commissioner suspension in Bengaluru stampede case: What is the process of suspension of IPS officer?

The period of suspension is valid for 30 days, which has to be taken to take the approval of the Central Government.

With the approval of the central government, it can be extended for 120 days. However, if the central government does not approve suspension, the concerned IPS officer is restored after 30 days.

Similarly, suspension can be extended from 180 days to maximum 1 year on the recommendation of the Central/State Review Committee.
