Balasore: The case of inhuman act with a youth at Bhograi police station in Balasore district of Odisha has now reached a high level of administration. Bhograi police station in-charge Srivallabh Sahu has been suspended in the case of keeping the young man in the police station without registering a case without registering a case for two days.

The young man was put in the hands and feet and kept in the police station for two days.

In fact, Karthik Chandra Bhol, a resident of Jayarampur village, was called Bhograi police station in a minor dispute related to motorcycle transactions. But the police neither registered a case against him nor followed the legal process. Instead, the young man was put in the hands and feet and kept it in the police station for two days and he was also physically tortured.

BJP MP showed inhuman act by making video calls to SP

When Karthik’s wife did not see her for two days, she contacted local BJP leader Ashish Patra. When Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi reached Bhograi on Thursday, Ashish Patra informed him about the incident. The MP immediately went to the police station and saw the condition of the young man and Balasore SP Raj Prasad showed the whole situation through a video call.

Bhograi police station in -charge Srivallabh Sahu suspended

After investigating the incident, the SP of Balasore sent its report to DGP YB Khurania. The report confirmed that the young man was actually physically tortured. IIC Srivallabh Sahu’s argument that “had to tie a young man due to lack of staff”, DGP considered completely unacceptable and suspended Sahu with immediate effect due to negligence in duty.

BJP MP condemns the incident

Condemning the incident, MP Pratap Sarangi said, “This rude tradition is going on in Bhograi police station. Innocent people are being harassed in small cases, while accused are roaming open in serious crimes. The case is neither registered nor investigated in this case, yet the young man was punished. It is completely illegal.”

IIC Sahu’s suspension is an indication that the administration is now in the mood of action rather than blindly on such incidents. It will now be seen what more steps are taken to provide justice to the victim and to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
