But instead of taking action against the lecturer, the principal pressured the student to withdraw the complaint. After this, this student complained to DM, SP, pleaded to the local MP, tried to convey his talk to the Chief Minister, but no one paid attention to the complaint.
Disappointed, on July 12, the student set herself on fire near the college gate. His 90 percent body was scorched. He was first admitted to the district hospital, later referred to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar.
The police then came into action, accused Professor Sameer Kumar Sahu and Principal of the college Dilip Kumar Ghosh and sent them to jail.
