New Delhi: The holy month of Sawan has started from Friday i.e. today. The period of special worship has started in Shiva temples across the country. According to Hindu beliefs, worshiping Lord Bholenath in this holy month fulfills all wishes. This is the reason that there is an influx of devotees in the pagoda since morning. Along with this, the Kavad Yatra has also started from today, which will run till August 9. About 4.5 crore kawandis are expected to come from Haridwar in this 28 -day journey.
Crowd of Kanwari flocking on Ganga Ghats
From the very first day of Sawan, thousands of Shiva devotees have taken out the holy Ganga water on the shoulder. His floor is the Shiva temple where this practice will be completed by offering water. In Haridwar, there is a crowd of Kanwari from Har Ki Pauri to other ghats of Ganga. Special arrangements have been made in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand for this sacred journey. Tight security arrangements have been made on the Kavad route. Security personnel are stationed all over the way, and monitoring with CCTV cameras. The food and drink shops are constantly being investigated, and the Food and Safety Department is taking samples. Non-veg shops have been closed on the Kavad road so that the sanctity of the journey will remain.
Strictness on meat shops on Kawad route
Local BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar took a tough stance after seeing the meat shops open on the Kanwar route in Ghaziabad. He reprimanded the police and said, ‘Kavad has started, Sawan has been started, there is full moon. The license of meat-male shops on Kavad Marg is no longer valid. Get out in the field and take action on them. Otherwise, if people take the law in their hands, then they will say what they have done. The MLA directed the police to seek reply from the outpost incharge and close the shops.
Posters put on Hindus shops
Posters have been installed at the shops of Hindus falling on the Kavad route in Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh. Hindu Raksha Dal activists are stationed in Gangnagar and surrounding areas. They allege that people of other religions tamper with women who take Kanwar. Gaurav Sisodia of the Hindu Raksha Dal said, “We are deployed to ensure the safety of Kanwari and the holiness of the journey.”
Controversy about Kanwar construction
Controversy has also come up in Haridwar over the construction of Kanwar. Some saints and Mahamandaleshwar have written a letter to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami demanding that Muslims be allowed to make Kavad outside the border of Haridwar. He says that in Haridwar, Muslims should not be allowed to make kavad. Swami Yatindranand Giri, Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara, raised this demand vigorously. In response to this, Muslim artisans, who made Kavad in Indira Nagar Colony of Jwalapur area of Haridwar, say that they have been doing this work for generations. About 50 Muslim families are still engaged in this work. The Uttarakhand government has not yet banned the matter.
Last year, 4 crore kawandis traveled
The Delhi Police has appealed to the Kanwari to use only the prescribed routes. Additional Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Gupta said, ‘We have made all the necessary arrangements for the safety and convenience of the kanwadi. Please follow the prescribed routes. ‘ Let us know that Shivaratri of Sawan will be celebrated on July 23 in the month of Sawan. Even after this, devotees will continue to offer Ganga water till 9 August. Last year, more than 4 crore kanwadis took part in the journey, and this year the number is expected to increase further. This is the reason why the administration has made more strong preparations than before.
