The subject of ticket prices of theaters is often discussed. There are plenty of disagreements in cinema in terms of ticket prices. A few months ago, CM Siddaramaiah had promised a uniform ticket price in Karnataka. But that is not the case. Ticket prices are also being debated in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. But now there is an indication that cinema ticket prices will be reduced across the country.
The current entertainment tax is 18%. This was an indirect contribution to the overall ticket rate hike. The owners of the theaters and multiplexes have also appealed to the government to reduce the entertainment tax. The ticket price was Rs 300 and the tax money would be Rs 54. He had earlier demanded that GST be reduced to 5%. The government is likely to reject the appeal.
